1. Do you live in Old Portsmouth? – Yes
2. How long have you lived there for? – 25 years
3. What do you feel are the main changes that have occurred architecturally since you have been living here? – Mainly the development of the flats opposite sea wall
4. What do you enjoy about living here? The Cathedral and the fact that it is close to the sea
5. What do you dislike about living here? - Nothing
6. Do you feel isolated from the rest of Portsmouth? – No
7. Has the Gunwharf development affected you in any way? – No affect noticed
8. Would you retire to Somerstown? – No

1. Do you live in Old Portsmouth? – No
2. What do you feel are the main changes that have occurred architecturally in recent years? – The development of flats with more to be built, reinforcing the sea wall with rocks etc. Old Portsmouth used to be a much more common area before the war but has since developed into a more expensive are to live
3. What do you enjoy about Old Portsmouth? – Walking along the sea wall and taking in the sights
4. What do you dislike about Old Portsmouth? – The smell of the drains
5. Do you think the residents of Old Portsmouth feel isolated from the rest of the city? – Doubts it. Properties very expensive, more exclusive area than rest of city perhaps
6. Has the Gunwharf development affected the residents in any way? – They may be glad that there is a bit of life over there now with pubs etc. Used to be a naval landing.

1. Do you live in Old Portsmouth? – Yes
2. How long have you lived there for? – 16 years
3. What do you feel are the main changes that have occurred architecturally since you have been living here? – Development of sea wall, building of new flats especially the properties opposite the wall
4. What do you enjoy about living here? – The location i.e by the sea
5. What do you dislike about Old Portsmouth? – No real dislikes
6. Do you feel isolated from the rest of Portsmouth? – Only real isolation is the lack of shops and high streets but doesn’t affect life in any way
7. Has the Gunwharf development affected you in any way? – No affect felt in Old Portsmouth (personally likes the development)
8. Would you retire to Somerstown? – No


Somerstown – Interview 1
1. Do you live in Somerstown? – Yes
2. How long have you lived there? – 10 years
3. What do you feel are the main changes that have occurred architecturally since you have been living here? – doesn’t know of the major changes, housing most likely
4. What do you enjoy about living in Somerstown? – Likes high street being so close, locations of bars etc for nights out with friends
5. What do you dislike about living in Somerstown? – None, ideal location, friends all close by
6. Do you feel isolated from the rest of Portsmouth? – No
7. Has the Gunwharf development affected you in any way? – No personal affect, likes the shopping centre
8. Would you retire to Old Portsmouth? – Yes
9. Why are you not at school/work? – Free period from college

1. Do you live in Somerstown? – Yes
2. How long have you lived there? – 20 years
3. What do you feel are the main changes that have occurred architecturally since you have been living here? – Development of University buildings and student residence etc
4. What do you enjoy about living in Somerstown? – Location of the area i.e central in city and shops are close by etc
5. What do you dislike about living in Somerstown? – Dislikes noise levels especially at night time!
6. Has the Gunwharf development affected you in any way? – Has incresed traffic levels in local area
7. Would you retire to Old Porstsmouth? – Loves the area so would, however very expensive so unlikely!

1. Do you live in Somerstown? – No
2. What do you feel are the main changes that have occurred architecturally since you have been living here? – Doesn’t really notice as mainly only passes through area
3. What do you like about Somerstown? – Again as mainly only passing through area doesn’t really enjoy much of the area, the location of shops and bars etc are good
4. What do you dislike about the area? – doesn’t really like as a whole with. Has alot of traffic and noise in the area.
5. Do you feel isolated from the rest of Portsmouth? – No
6. Has the Gunwharf development affected you in any way? – Not really sure if it has affected
7. Would you retire to Old Portsmouth? – Already lives there
